Unfortunately, shore access is limited, but South Shore Marina at 1880 Greenwood Lake Turnpike in Hewitt, roughly 23 miles away, has everything you need for an excellent day of boat fishing. 

4. Green Turtle Pond

If you want to hook trout, the secluded 40-acre Green Turtle Pond is stocked annually in spring. The picturesque pond is tucked in the mountains between Monksville Reservoir and Greenwood Lake, about 22 miles away on Awosting Road off Greenwood Lake Turnpike. Cast your line from the shore, or use the nearby boat ramp to fish in the middle of the lake. 

5. Lake Hopatcong

New Jersey’s largest freshwater lake, the 2,500-acre Lake Hopatcong, is only 31 miles away in Lake Hopatcong State Park at 260 Lakeside Boulevard in Landing. A diversity of fish species thrive in the lake, including largemouth bass, sunfish, perch, pickerel, walleye, and catfish. The lake is stocked with rainbow, brown, and brook trout regularly, making it an incredible angling spot all year round.
