As time passes, components become worn or damaged, reducing their performance. Low performance can lead to decreased fuel efficiency and higher repair bills. Fortunately, a regular Acura maintenance schedule can prevent these issues by repairing or replacing components before they fail. As your Acura dealer, we’d like you to know about some of the services we provide.
Maximize Performance With Acura Maintenance at Your Acura Dealer
Timing Belt Replacement
The timing belt connects the camshaft at the top of your engine to the crankshaft at the bottom of your engine. It’s one of the most important belts in your Acura, as its movement helps synchronize the opening and closing of the intake and exhaust valves. Engine components move at a high speed, and split-second timing is essential to prevent damage.
The timing belt is strong and reinforced, but over time, it can become worn, damaged, or stretched. If the belt breaks, your engine will suffer catastrophic damage. The belt is usually changed every 70,000 to 90,000 miles, but the exact replacement time for your Acura’s belt is listed in your car manual. Our technicians can easily examine your belt and fit a new one when required.
Brake Pad Replacement
Brake pads fit into the brake calipers, which are positioned above your wheel rotors. When you hit the brakes, the calipers close, and the pads are forced against the rotors. The pads have friction-producing material coverings that generate friction against the smooth spinning rotors, which brings your Acura to a stop.
A pad’s material covering slowly flakes off over time, and when the material covering drops to 1/4″ thick, the pad needs replacement. If this happens, you’ll hear a screeching noise when you brake. This sound is made by a metal spike inside the pad that scratches against the rotor as a warning that the pad has worn down. We can quickly replace your pads, and your brakes will work efficiently again.
Oil Change
Oil is your Acura’s most essential fluid after fuel. It circulates through your engine and lubricates all moving parts. The lubrication enables the components to move swiftly while reducing friction damage. Oil additives protect your engine against rust and breakdown deposits that could cause blockages in the system.
Engine oil absorbs dirt and debris in the engine, which slows it down and reduces its effectiveness. Your engine performance will be reduced as components can’t move as quickly as they should, You may also hear strange sounds from your engine. We’ll drain the old oil, then remove and replace the oil filter. We then refill your engine with fresh oil. It’s a quick procedure, and you can enjoy some of our great coffee while you wait.
