Everyday driving takes its toll on your tires with bumps in the road, potholes, and uneven surfaces all commonplace. Scheduling a tire alignment service at your local Acura dealership ensures your tires can perform at their best, keeping you safe on every trip.

1: Pulling to the Side

When properly aligned, your tires should form the perfect rectangle, all pointing in the same direction. However, there are three different angles that can pull the tires away from their correct position. When this happens, the tires will point in a different direction, causing the car to pull to one side.

2: Reduced Fuel Efficiency

Your tires keep you moving forward, providing sufficient grip but minimal resistance. If your tires are misaligned, the resistance will increase. This means you will need to use more fuel to propel your Acura forward, leading to a higher gas bill for the same mileage.

3: Misaligned Steering Wheel

When your tires are pointing forwards, your steering wheel should be straight. If your steering wheel is off-center while the tires are in a straight line, you have an alignment problem. You might also notice that you have to work harder to keep your steering wheel on course, and it may feel less stable while you’re moving.

4: Uneven Tire Wear

Misaligned tires may cause the edges to wear out faster than expected, creating a pattern of uneven wear. This can shorten the lifespan of your tires, increasing your costs due to more frequent replacements being required.

5: Noisy Tires

If the angles of the tires have changed, they won’t be making contact with the surface as intended. When moving forward, the tires may drag rather than roll smoothly, creating an intermittent squealing sound. This problem is often exacerbated while cornering, especially if uneven wear is also affecting surface contact.

6: Vibrating Steering Wheel

When the tires are not aligned properly, there will be an uneven distribution of force as they make contact with the road surface. Your Acura’s suspension will need to absorb the excess friction, but it won’t be able to eradicate it completely. The steering wheel will feel the residual effect, typically resulting in a vibrating or rattling sensation.
